The Fifth Asian Beach Games were held successfully in Dà Nang, Vietnam in the last week of September 2016. The Pakistani jiu-jitsu team that comprised of 14 athletes bagged 7 medals that include 2 silver and 5 bronze in the Ju-Jitsu event that was held from 23rd till 25th December at Truong Beach, Da Nang. Pakistani players performed extremely well and were welcomed here by the IPC Minister and DG Pakistan Sports Board.
The athletes that represented Pakistan were: Muhammad Ammar, Abu Hurraira, Jahanzeb Rashad, Shahzeb Nawaz, Rafique Siddique, Amir Hamza, Umer Mukhtar, Ahmed Butt, Muhammad Abid, Beenish Khan, Ambreen Masih, Humaira Ashiq, Maryam, Kashaf Javed.
Ahmed Butt of Pakistan, grabbed the first silver medal for the country in the +94kg weight category. The second silver was clinched by Jahanzeb Rashad Lone, in -56kg weight category. The bronze medal holders are: Shahzeb Nawaz (Show Mix), Maryam (Show Mix, Show Women), Humaira Ashiq (Show Women), Beenish Khan(-90kg weight category), Muhammad Abid (-85kg weight category)
Ju-jitsu team with President Pakistan Jitsu Federation and other officials
The Pakistan Ju-Jitsu Team has brought the maximum number of medals while compared with other Pakistani teams in handball, volleyball, kabaddi and wrestling etc.
The IPC Minister Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada hosted a reception in Islamabad for the National Ju-Jitsu Team. While presenting the team with souvenirs, the Minister applauded their performance in the Asian Beach Games 2016 as well all the other mega events in which the Pakistan ju-jitsu team has made the country proud.
The PJJF is keen to promote Ju-Jitsu in the country, and make the nation proud by bringing more and more laurels for the country.
