PAKISTAN TO HOST WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP FOR BELT WRESTLING & ASIAN CHAMPIONSHIP FOR JU-JITSU AND BELT WRESTLING IN JANUARY-2011. International Governing Body of Belt Wrestling Sports “IBWA” has awarded the 9th World Championship to Pakistan through its General Assembly.
Asian Governing Body of Ju-Jitsu and Belt Wrestling ‘AJJBWF’ has also allocated the rights to host the 4th Asian Championship to Pakistan Ju-Jitsu Federation (PJJF) in the current year. These two mega events will be held from 10-16 January-2011 at Islamabad-Pakistan.The Executive Board of PJJF in its meeting headed by President PJJF Mr. Khalil Ahmed Khan has decided to host these events in Islamabad-Pakistan in collaboration with Government of Pakistan and Pakistan Olympic Association. PJJF will organize these events from 10-16 January-2010 at Liaquat Gymnasium-Islamabad.
The event has included the following:
(1) “Play for Peace”-Project. This project is blend of sports and culture through a training camps between the War Conflicted Countries duly approved by the Olympic Council of Asia and UNESCO. (2) 4th Asian Ju-Jitsu and Belt Wrestling Championship as annual event of Asian Federation for both sports. Pakistan is enjoying Asian Champion title and retained it for the last three consecutive championships. It would be an event wherein, Pakistani players will show their skill to the rest of nation. Around 30 countries are likely to participate in this Asian Championship.3) 9th World Belt Wrestling Championship: Belt Wrestling is a popular sports and has been included as regular event in Universiad sport at Kazan-Russia-2013. Around 70 countries are likely to participate in this event at Pakistan.
1st South Asian Ju-Jitsu & Belt Wrestling Championship: First South Asian Championship for both sports will also be held simultaneously along with World Green festival of traditional wrestling sports in Pakistan.
PJJF has proposed an organizing committee headed by Prime Minister of Pakistan to the Government of Pakistan. Federation has already approached to the President and Prime Minister of Pakistan in this regard. The ball has set been rolling and now it is upto the Government of Pakistan to avail this opportunity to uplift the soft image of our country by hosting this mega event in Pakistan. It is to remember that earlier two Asian Championships were allocated to Pakistan but due to security and non interest of the Govt. these were re-allocated to Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.
