WAPDA took  national title in JU-JITSU AND BELT WRESTLING CHAMPIONSHIP, 2008

 

NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP 2008      
WAPDA took 1st position by winning 24 Gold,04 Silver and 02 Bronze medals whereas,Pakistan Police secured 2nd position with 04 Gold,14 Silver and 10 Bronze, Punjab secured 3rd position having 03 Gold, 08 Silver and 04 Bronze medals in the 04 day 6th National Ju-Jitsu and Belt Wrestling Championship, 2008 concluded here at Lahore the other day.Teams from Punjab, NWFP, Baluchistan, Sindh, FATA, Pakistan Police and WAPDA participated in the national event and more than 200 players took part and enjoyed the colourful event.The Championship was officially inaugurated by H.E. Bryan. D. Hunt, Principal Officer,U.S.Consulate, Lahore, whereas, it was closed by H.E. Mr.Nurlan Aitmurzaev, Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan,  who also gave away the prizes and appreciated the efforts of Pakistan Ju-Jitsu Federation for the promotion of these disciplines of Martial Art in Pakistan.Prominent among others were Member Parliamentarians of National and Provincial Assemblies alongwith H.E.Saeid Kharazi,Consul General, Islamic Republic of Iran, Lahore and Mr. Qasim Zia, President, Pakistan Hockey Federation, Rana Muhammad Iqbal, Speaker Punjab Assembly, Sheikh Israr Ahmed,Additional Inspector General-Police, Mr.Mubashar Lucman and Mrs.Neva Usman, Chairperson Chief Minister Task Force,who also distributed the medals among the winners of different weight categories.

It is pertinent to mention here that Ju-Jitsu Martial Art is getting rapid popularity in Pakistan and all the credit goes to its founder President (PJJF) Khalil Ahmed Khan, who is not only the President of National Federation but the first Pakistani to have the honour as the President of the Asian Federation (AJJBWF) as well as the General Secretary of International Federation (IBWA). Pakistan is the current Asian Champion in Duo System of Women and Mixed event of Ju-Jitsu in the 2nd Asian Championship, 2008, whereas, Pakistan was the Asian Champion in 1st Asian Championship held at Almay, Kazakhstan, 2006.The sports of Ju-Jitsu Martial Art has officially been included in the 1st Martial Art Games, 2009 under the patronage of Olympic Council of Asia and also included together with Belt Wrestling as demonstration sports into the 3rd Indoor Games at Vietnam, 2009.The sports of Ju-Jitsu is more attractive sports as compare to its counter-part such as Judo, Karate and Taikwando. It is the very reasons that all existing players of all these Martial Art are merging themselves into Ju-Jitsu sports and PJJF as a National Federation is introducing this very sports into the grass root level as in the school and colleges.
